Noodle house in Tokyo (extracted from http://www.abitare.it/highlights/yufutoku-restaurant/)

ISSHO ARCHITECTS

Noodle Restaurant.

Located in central Tokyo, right around the corner from the major thoroughfare Meguro Street, is a ‘soba’ noodle shop, the owner’s residence situated above. The building has Machiya-style wooden louvers, invoking a traditional Japanese townhouse, but the depth of each louver is varied sequentially across the face. Regionally different patterns of light spill through the façade from the interior, allowing a gradual change of character at dawn, especially as viewed from the main street.

Seibu study- for Antoine

Antoine- here is the Seibu model from Neil Grant 2 years ago. Neil focussed upon the skin vs. the internal circulation spaces, constructed in volumetric form. The external topography is absent- but the articulation of Seibu A and B is apparent in the foreground.

Consider carefully how to make parallel relations between Seibu precedent and Soho site (I suggest forgetting about the Parco series and concentrating upon the interconnected volumes of Seibu A + B, Loft, Coach (void?) Parking block and Movida ). If parallel scales of models are constructed, what do you frame and with what kinds of material? Maybe post your ideas after some thoughts.

relationship(interaction) study(building and users) part one- general condition

i want to use this drawing to explain general combination of typologies on my site and this would lead to the part 2 study of the 3 main groups of activities(1: shopping(no.1 la foret vs gyre) 2:transporting(stations and different route picked during diff time) 3:local residents-go to temple or school etc(how this group being interacted by the other groups, how they access differently to the same place)

in this diagram i am picking up secondary accesses founded by following different groups of people. and the number is where the scens picked up during travelling. i am going to draw the story board upon these scens. which may lead to a short-cut from the movie i have been taken for period of following. NEXT STEP,I AM THINKING TO DRAW UNWRAPPED ST. ELE VATION FOR EACH SECONDARY ROUTE I AM PICKING WITH EVENTS(story board). ??BUT NOT VERY SURE IF IT WOULD BE THE MOST CLEAR WAY TO DO IT BECAUSE I THINK THE INTERSECTING POINTS BETWEEN ROUTES CANT BE SHOWN ON THE ELEVATIONS.

study group 1: shopping. above is the shopping guide. i want to analyse different groups of ppl go shopping in this area(young school, adults, fancy dressing ppl, tourists and higher incoming classes. this would related to different forms of stores/shopping center diagram and how the movement will be.). a clearer diagram will be provided

starting of study part two-relationship out and in to la foret and its self-program(comparing with Gyre):

a more detailed access together with where different groups of people acting differently in and our la foret will be provided. and i will compare it with Gyre. thus, there will be a separately photo gallery to give real images.

Tokyo Research - Q-Front Analysis

Q-Front that borders the scramble has many ambiguous conditions concerning the varied program it contains as well as its different entrance points. Additionally, as one moves below ground, the B1 level is appropriated within the street thickness and is thus, completely camouflaged from without

The building has several types of circulation - primary, secondary and tertiary that decrease in public accessibility as one moves inward

Im still working on the best way to categorize these different effects in addition to a more detailed study of the above and below ground connections around the scramble but maybe your feedback will help clarify how best to go about it.

Tokyo Research - Shibuya Scramble

The initial studies of the scramble crossing show the varying movements of people and cars

dotted around the scramble are several entrances into the subterranean realm below...

The underground public realm expands during the day as the market stalls appropriate the circulation space

The reverse occurs at night, when these stalls contract into themselves once again, opening up the circulation space but reducing the traffic through these passageways beneath the scramble
