Model and diagramming techniques- maybe for Samo?

Here are a selection of different approaches that you may find useful and inspiring.

Uib Library- Cero9 (AA Diploma 5 Tutors)

Show connections- Make clear diagrams that show the abstract and real relations between programmes, solid, voids, layers, levels, time relations, tectonic elements, overlaps........ note 1 colour only!

Diagrams for Civic centre- Mansilla & Tunon

Show voids- show the absence of something so that you can reveal the space in between and its relation to other elements/ volumes.4 colours but working together to create a series of interrelated studies.

Multipurpose Sports complex- no.mad (Eduardo Arroyo)

Develop models that demonstrate abstract relations between your pattern, surfaces and the spaces created in between. Make the project do more than simply reiterate earlier dazzle ideas- speculate more about what it does in your own project, transforming spaces and our perception of them. Black and white surfaces/ patterns- the world of dazzle....

Let's see a series of these for Friday!

This building study by Kumiko Inui demonstrates the how a spatial pattern can be studied and used in a building

model studies demonstrating different composition of roofs and their shadows

Internal organisation for Samo

I thought these might be useful section example for the internal organisation of space and how hierarchy of space can create an interesting internal world! F

Again from Mark Smith (Jonathan's former student). See on the image below the differentiation between internal 'private' and internal 'public' spaces and the uniformity of the external skin treatment. J

Axo skin drawing for Kit

Thought this drawing might help you to draw the relationship between external skin+ internal space(internal skin) for Tod's.

Consider the two skins (in your case outer and inner) and how they create a presence on the street (facade pattern) versus interior space. This is a useful analogy in relation to your current project on Gt Windmill Street.

Defining effects- drawing representation- for Manijeh

Manijeh- these are the drawings and models for my own catalogue. The drawings describe specific relations between topography, spatial, programmatic and visual qualities they are derived from. The models are simple folded envelopes deformed around these principles and organised in the same way. Sectional properties are made in bold where required. Hope this helps.

Seibu study- for Antoine

Antoine- here is the Seibu model from Neil Grant 2 years ago. Neil focussed upon the skin vs. the internal circulation spaces, constructed in volumetric form. The external topography is absent- but the articulation of Seibu A and B is apparent in the foreground.

Consider carefully how to make parallel relations between Seibu precedent and Soho site (I suggest forgetting about the Parco series and concentrating upon the interconnected volumes of Seibu A + B, Loft, Coach (void?) Parking block and Movida ). If parallel scales of models are constructed, what do you frame and with what kinds of material? Maybe post your ideas after some thoughts.
